New Mexico Educational Retirement Board Announces

Board Officer Elections

(Albuquerque, NM) -  The New Mexico Educational Retirement Board (NMERB) is pleased to announce today the election of Bruce Malott as chairperson; Mary Lou Cameron as vice chairperson; and Russell Goff as secretary to the NMERB Board.  They all have served previously on the board.

Chairperson Bruce Malott has served on the board since 1999 and has been chair of it since August 2004.  He is a founding partner of Meyners + Company, LLC, one of New Mexico’s largest public accounting firms, and his credentials include more than 25 years of experience in a broad array of capacities including accounting, tax and consulting services.

Vice Chairperson Mary Lou Cameron represents the National Education Association of New Mexico, and she’s responsible for relaying information about the NMERB pension fund to the association.  A former teacher, literacy specialist and associate superintendent, she also served as president of the National Education Association of New Mexico 1996-2001.

Secretary Russell Goff represents the New Mexico Association of Educational Retirees, where he has served as executive director since 2002.  He began his education career as a teacher in 1964, culminating in 2001 when he retired as principal of Eldorado High School in Albuquerque.

The management of the NMERB is vested in a board of seven members that serve in a fiduciary relationship to the members covered under the Educational Retirement Act.  Members are comprised of all New Mexican public school employees.  The administrative management of the fund is managed by Executive Director Jan Goodwin, who was appointed by the Board of Trustees in March 2008.
